A MESSAGE FROM THE CAMP DIRECTOR

Welcome to the official web site of the HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camp

The HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camp is the world leader in adult curling instruction. We provide the latest in instructional techniques, strategy, and equipment through intensive on-ice sessions, video analysis, and classroom instruction. Our instructors are world class athletes, competitors, and sports educators. We are so proud to have them affiliated with our camp.

The camp was founded in 1995 and fulfilled a dream of mine to provide curlers with the opportunity to rub shoulders with the stars of the game. Today, the camp fulfills a demand in the growing curling marketplace for quality instruction in an informal setting.

Read more > to be present when Team Howard (1987) and Team Howard (1993), representing my hometown club, won their two Canadian and World Championships. For a time I worked with the team, recruiting sponsors, and handling public appearances. I was fortunate to have access to these world class athletes and to this day can call them my friends.

That access is what the Hot Shots Fantasy Curling Camp provides. As a structured yet relatively informal adult camp, participants have unlimited access to the stars of the game during on-ice and off-ice clinics, at the meal table, or during our various social activities.

From our start with 60 campers in Peterborough, Ontario we have expanded to serve over 1200 campers at camps in Guelph, Ontario; Oakville, Ontario; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and St. Paul, Minnesota.

To our large fraternity of fantasy camp alumni, I would like to thank you for your support. We hope that your experience at the fantasy camp has translated into more success and enjoyment on the ice. And, to those of you who have not yet joined us, we invite you to register for an experience that will exceed your expectations.

SEPTEMBER 5-7 CAMP HAS FOUR SPOTS LEFT

If you are interesting in attending the September 5-7, 2008 camp at the Oakville Curling Club in Oakville, Ontario you are in luck. Due to last minute demand, weve added another group of eight spots to the camp roster, and have filled half of them. Four spots remain so we have even numbered groups. There are still about a dozen or so spots left for the HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camp in Bridgeport, Connecticut October 24-26, 2008. The camp is limited to 48 campers. Instructors anticipated to teach at the camp include Earle Morris (Coach Team Australia and father of World Champion John Morris), Scott Arnold (Canadian Curling Association Level 3 / 4 National Coach), Cindy Bishop (Curling Professional and Coach of Team Austria and Team Netherlands womens rinks), as well other top instructors.

AUGUST 08 CAMP CHALLENGES CURLERS

The August 22-24, 2008 camp marked the start of the 13th year of HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camps. With campers attending from Dallas, Texas to Montreal, Quebec and towns and cities in between, much of North America was well represented. High gas prices didnt slow down our American friends who traveled in great numbers to Oakville, Ontario for world class instruction, fantastic hospitality and awesome curling ice.

Three women distinguished themselves over the course of the weekend with their enthusiasm and passion for the game, and their open minds to learn and try new things. Winners of the Pat O. Reid were Melissa Hogg of Toronto, Ontario; Elaine Psarras of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and Bonnie Brake of Mississauga, Ontario.

CONNECTICUT CAMP OCTOBER 24-26, 2008

NEW USA CAMP BEING FINALIZED

The Board of Directors of the Nutmeg Curling Club in Bridgeport, Connecticut is reviewing final plans for a HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camp to be staged October 3-5, 2008 at the three-sheet club. The three-day adult curling camp will follow the same format as the traditional HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camps held in Oakville, Ontario and in previous US locations - Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Madison. Clinics will include Delivery-Balance, Delivery-Release, Line of Delivery, Strategy, Team Communication, and Effective Brushing.5 Also, video analysis will be provided with each participant going home with a CD of their delivery.

Previous HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camp participants that have moved onto to national competitions in the USA include Jeremy Roe (2008 USCA Men's Nationals), Derek Surka and Charissa Lin (2008 USCA Mixed Nationals).

Our two Ontario camps scheduled for August 22-24, 2008 and September 5-7, 2008 at the Oakville Curling Club are filling up quickly. As of this posting, the August camp has less then 20 spots left, and the September camp is approximately half full.5 (Please be aware that we are limiting the registrations to each camp to 80 curlers.) They will be held on August 22-24, 2008 and September 5-7, 2008 at the Oakville Curling Club in Oakville, Ontario (located about a half hour southwest of Toronto). As well, you can register by clicking on the REGISTRATION icon located in the header of this webpage. Please be aware that we are limiting the registrations to each camp to 80 curlers.
