A MESSAGE FROM THE CAMP DIRECTOR

Welcome to the official web site of the HOT SHOTS Curling Camp

The HOT SHOTS Fantasy Curling Camp is the world leader in adult curling instruction. We provide the latest in instructional techniques, strategy, and equipment through intensive on-ice sessions, video analysis, and classroom instruction. Our instructors are world class athletes, competitors, and sports educators. We are so proud to have them affiliated with our camp.

The camp was founded in 1995 and fulfilled a dream of mine to provide curlers with the opportunity to rub shoulders with the stars of the game. Today, the camp fulfills a demand in the growing curling marketplace for quality instruction in an informal setting.

Read more > to be present when Team Howard (1987) and Team Howard (1993), representing my hometown club, won their two Canadian and World Championships. For a time I worked with the team, recruiting sponsors, and handling public appearances. I was fortunate to have access to these world class athletes and to this day can call them my friends.

That access is what the Hot Shots Fantasy Curling Camp provides. As a structured yet relatively informal adult camp, participants have unlimited access to the stars of the game during on-ice and off-ice clinics, at the meal table, or during our various social activities.

From our start with 60 campers in Peterborough, Ontario we have expanded to serve over 1200 campers at camps in Guelph, Ontario; Oakville, Ontario; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and St. Paul, Minnesota.

To our large fraternity of fantasy camp alumni, I would like to thank you for your support. We hope that your experience at the fantasy camp has translated into more success and enjoyment on the ice. And, to those of you who have not yet joined us, we invite you to register for an experience that will exceed your expectations.

LIMITED SPACES REMAIN FOR 2009 HOT SHOTS CAMPS
Before you break out the golf clubs or splash the boat into the water for the summer, make plans to attend one of our three HOT SHOTS Curling Camps this summer or fall. Registrations for each camp are limited to 80 campers.  The Oakville Curling Club camp in Oakville, Ontario (August 28-30, 2009) is still accepting registrations, but space is running out, so book soon.  We have had tremendous response to our Ottawa camp (October 2-4, 2009) at the RA Curling Club.  Register immediately so you don’t miss out.  Our final camp of the year will be held at the Utica Curling Club in Utica, New York on October 16-18, 2009. 2009 CAMP DATES ANNOUNCED

We are very pleased to announce that there will be three HOT SHOTS Curling Camps in 2009, at three different locations.  Our first camp will be held in our traditional home at the Oakville Curling Club in Oakville, Ontario (1/2 hour west of Toronto) on August 28-20, 2009.  This eight sheet facility boasts some of the best ice in the country, and is an ideal training facility for our campers.  The Oakville Curling is easily accessible from Pearson International Airport in Toronto or from points west, including the border crossings at Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Detroit.  We are once again being hosted by the Hilton Garden Inn - Oakville, located 12 minutes from the club.  To register, click on the link for a downloadable registration form (pdf) or proceed to the REGISTRATION button above. 

Our second camp will be held in the nation’s capital, at the RA Centre in Ottawa, Ontario on October 2-4, 2009.  The RA Curling Club is part of the RA Centre, the largest private recreation centre and leisure facility in Canada which offers an extensive range of sports, recreation, fitness and leisure pursuits for individuals of all ages.  Thanks to the keen interest of a local group of curlers, this camp is a partnership between the HOT SHOTS Curling Camp and the RA Centre, with the goal of improving the level of play of curlers from Ottawa area clubs.  Interested curlers should register quickly as space for this camp will be limited to 80 campers, and we have already received calls from prospective participants.  The RA Centre is located near the Ottawa International Airport.  Accommodation is available at a Group Rate of $148 at the Hilton Garden Inn – Ottawa Airport, by calling (613) 288-9001 or the Southway Inn at 1-877-688-4929 (toll free Canada/USA).  Please let them know you are part of HOT SHOTS Curling. Our third camp will bring us back to the United States for the second consecutive year.  The Utica Curling in Utica, New York is one of the oldest curling clubs in the United States and has hosted many prominent events, including the US National Championships. The HOT SHOTS Curling Camp will be staged October 16-18, 2009 at this six-sheet facility.  Local curlers Roger Rowlett and Mary Jane Walsh are spearheading the effort in Utica, and we are so pleased to be working with these camp alumni.  Registrations are limited to 80 campers, so register your spot as soon as possible. NAME CHANGED WITH RENEWED FOCUS

You may notice that our logo has received a subtle change.  If you missed it, the word “Fantasy” has been deleted from the HOT SHOTS Curling Camp.  When we started this journey 14 years ago, it was an attempt to link club curlers with the stars of the game in a fun and informal educational setting.  Some of our first instructors were members of Russ Howard’s 1993 World Championship team and Marilyn Bodogh’s 1996 World Championship rink.  Continued in Archives >>>
